Liquor ban back at Lake Karapiro
2 August 2016
Temporary liquor bans will be imposed again at the Mighty River Domain, Lake Karapiro.
It will be an offence to consume alcohol on specific dates during organised events throughout the year.
This is the fifth year in a row the ban has been in place following positive feedback from event organisers, lake and domain users, local residents and police.
The temporary ban covers the entire 19-hectare domain with the exception of the Sir Don Rowlands Centre and buildings belonging to sporting groups.
The ban will be relaxed from 5pm - 9pm in the upper campground to allow visitors to enjoy a quiet drink with dinner. The only exception to this will be during the hydroplane event scheduled for February 11-12 next year when a 24-hour liquor ban will be in place.
