Local groups seek help - Te Awamutu
10 September 2015
Thirty-three local groups have applied for discretionary funding from the Te Awamutu Community Board.
The Board can allocate $20,000 this round to not-for-profit groups that provide a local service to benefit the wider Waipa community. Higher priority will be given to funding community projects rather than operating costs.
Applications in Te Awamutu total more than $60,000 - more than three times what is available. Financial assistance usually ranges between $200 - $2000 but applications for larger amounts are considered.
In Te Awamutu applications have been received to support a range of projects including the translocation of North Island Robins, computer equipment and the restoration of the Kihikihi police house.
A further 23 groups, asking for nearly $62,000, have applied for help from the Pirongia Ward Committee. Pirongia applications cover a schools' Christmas carols event, murals, picnic tables, support for an ANZAC Day services and more.
The Te Awamutu Community Board will meet to discuss the grant allocations on Wednesday, September 30. Pirongia's Ward Committee will meet next Wednesday (September 16).
