New road contractor named
25 June 2015Fulton Hogan has won a three-year road maintenance contract with Waipa District Council with potential for the work to be extended for a further two years.
The contract will involve all road maintenance work across the Waipa district road network with the exception of the state highways. These will continue to be managed by the NZ Transport Agency.
Fulton Hogan won the work ahead of three other companies following a competitive tender process.
The contract is worth around $7 million per year.
Road corridor manager Koos Lelieveld said road maintenance was a highly visible activity in Waipa and generated enormous interest in the community.
The road corridor team encourages feedback around any issues that need addressing. We'd encourage people to phone the council's customer support team about any concerns so we can work with our contractor to ensure they're sorted out quickly, he said.
Fulton Hogan have a proven record in road maintenance and are well aware that the needs of Waipa's residents, business owners and visitors must be taken into account when work is being planned and is underway.
The new road maintenance contract begins on July 1 this year.
