Pay increases recommended
12 June 2015The independent Remuneration Authority has recommended pay increases for Waipa District's elected councillors and community board members.
Waipa District Council councillors or staff have had no role or influence over the recommendation. It is determined independently.
The recommendation would see the Waipa mayor's salary increase from $108,500 to $113,300. The deputy mayor's salary would go from $40,180 to $43,540.
Councillors would see their remuneration increase from $28,700 to $31,100.
There would be no change to expenses or allowances payable.
Cambridge community board members would see their remuneration go from $7,900 per year to $8,700 with the chair receiving $17,400. Te Awamutu community board members would receive $8,400 per year, up from $7,700 with the chair receiving $16,800.
The recommendation from the independent Remuneration Authority will be discussed by councillors at a meeting of the finance and corporate committee on June 16.
