Rates calculator a hit
16 March 2015Waipa ratepayers are jumping online to find out the impact of the council's plans on their own rates bill.
Waipa District Council has released its draft 10-Year Plan consultation document detailing its spending proposals for the next decade. The document is available online at www.futurewaipa.co.nz along with a quick response rates calculator.
The calculator only requires a property address and within seconds, indicates any change to next year's rate bill along with movements for the following nine years.
Already hundreds of people have used the calculator to find out the financial impact of what's proposed. Nearly 600 people have already checked out the online version of the consultation document with 50 already completing or beginning an online submission.
Comment has been made particularly on cyleways, the Cambridge pool proposal, Waipuke Park and plans to change the ratings system.
Community relationships manager Jo Ireland said printed versions of the plan will be delivered to households late this week - but not to letterboxes with a no junk mail' sign.
Those households have made it clear they only want addressed mail and that will be respected. However, if those people decide they would like a printed copy of the plan they can ring the council and we'll get one to them or they can pick one up from council offices or libraries.
