Waipā's young people were recognised for their outstanding efforts at the 2018 Waipā Youth Awards.
The annual awards celebrate achievement in academia, arts and culture, community service, leadership and sport. This year more than 94 students were nominated across six categories.
Deputy Mayor Grahame Webber said the night was a celebration of hard work and dedication.
The awards are in their 16th year and continue to attract amazing nominations. Every year I'm blown away by the work our young people are doing for themselves, their peers and their community.
This year's excellence recipients were:
- Academic: Luke van Gog, St Peter's School
- Arts & Culture: Victoria Hos, St Peter's School
- Community Service: Ella Higgins, Cambridge High School

The evening was hosted by Cambridge High School on Thursday 7 June with support from the Waipā Youth Council, St Peter's School and Te Awamutu College.
The awards would not happen each year without the support of Te Awamutu, Kihikihi and Cambridge Rotary Clubs, Construction Advantage Ltd, CMYK, Cambridge Lions, Business Networking International and Storey Sport.
Nominations were open to students aged 14-18 who live, or have attended school in Waipā.
