Waipa's young talent celebrated
15 June 2015Waipa's outstanding young people have been recognised at the annual Waipa District Youth Awards.
The awards, now in their thirteenth year, recognise the outstanding achievements of young people in academics, arts and culture, community service, leadership, sport and in a multi-achiever category. They are open to young people aged 14-18 who live, or have attended school, in the Waipa district for at least six months of the 2014 academic year. This year there were 92 nominations.
Those who won excellence awards included Jessica Sutton (St Peter's College) for academics; Solomon Cook (St Peter's College) for arts and culture; Courtney Field (St Peter's College) for community service; Hayden Kilgour (Cambridge High School) for leadership; Megan Bethall (Te Awamutu College) for multi-achiever and Nikiti Howarth (Cambridge High School) for sport.
The awards are supported by a number of organisations including Kihikihi, Te Awamutu and Cambridge Rotary Clubs, CMYK, Cambridge Lions, Business Networking Inc and Storey Sport.
