Waste-free parenting workshops
21 August 2015The Nappy Lady' will be visiting Te Awamutu and Cambridge to teach parents how to be waste-free and save money.
The waste-free parenting workshops are all about minimising families' eco footprints, and introducing exciting and modern waste-free alternatives to very expensive one-use products. Cloth nappies are part of the education and parents will receive cloth nappies at the workshop.
Kate Meads, known as The Nappy Lady' will be hosting the workshops to give parents tips and information on how to reduce their waste output and says the sessions aren't all about nappies.
Aside from families noticing a big decrease in their waste output they are also finding they are saving a large amount of money by doing things more sustainably, says Ms Meads. I am so excited that the waste-free parenting initiatives all over the country are having such a positive impact on Kiwi parents.
Kate currently runs her programme through 35 councils around New Zealand and is excited to be coming back to Waipa to run the workshops.
Waipa District Council is always looking at ways to minimise the amount of waste that ends up in the landfills and the workshops are financially supported through Council's Waste Minimisation Community Fund.
