Webber re-appointed deputy
26 October 2016
Waipa mayor Jim Mylchreest has re-appointed top-polling Cambridge councillor Grahame Webber as his deputy.
It will be Webber's fourth term as deputy mayor and his sixth term as a Waipa District Councillor.
Webber is a long-time Waipa resident who grew up in Te Awamutu and farmed at Maungatautari for more than 30 years. He now lives in Cambridge.
Mylchreest said he and Webber had worked well together during his first term and he looked forward to an ongoing partnership.
Grahame has a wealth of expertise and experience and he was invaluable to the smooth running of the council in my first term, Mylchreest said.
He brings both an urban and a rural perspective to the debating chamber and enjoys strong support from the community for his forthright approach and willingness to listen.
Mylchreest said he was looking forward to working alongside Grahame to tick some big boxes for the district.
We have some exciting and challenging projects to complete, not the least of which is the completion of the covered swimming pool project in Cambridge.
The appointments of Waipa District Council's committee chairs will be made at the Council's first formal meeting on November 29.
