Aidhean Camson — From global projects to local priorities
He’s helped build things in countries most of us only see on a map. Now Aidhean Camson is figuring out how to fix things a little closer to home.
Originally from Scotland, Aidhean and his family have lived in several corners of the world before landing in Cambridge. After years helping shape places elsewhere, he decided it was time to roll up his sleeves closer to home.
“When the local elections came around, I felt I had something useful to offer locally, drawing on the experience I’d gained through my career.”
Since joining Council, one thing has surprised him: just how much happens behind the scenes.
“It’s easy from the outside to underestimate the level of work happening across Council to do the right thing for the community.”
For Aidhean, that means thinking about where investment should go, what needs solving first and how decisions made today will stack up years from now.
As Deputy Chair of the Service Delivery Committee, he’s helping shape Cambridge Connections and the future of transport in Cambridge.
Away from Council, the big projects are closer to home: exploring local trails, wandering through the Farmers’ Market and finding the best cafés and community spots.
“It’s a very friendly community, easy to get around, and there’s always something happening.”
After a career spent helping build things around the world, Aidhean is now helping shape the place his family calls home.
