Jo Davies-Colley — Local for life
Jo Davies-Colley’s calendar has got busier. The meeting papers longer. But the reason she’s involved in her community hasn’t changed.
After six years on the Cambridge Community Board, including three as Chair, Jo stepped into a new role last October as Waipā’s Deputy Mayor.
The title may have changed, but the reason she got involved hasn’t. It’s about people.
“I’ve really enjoyed meeting more of the amazing organisations and community groups across the district.”
Before Council, Jo spent years as a hospital midwife — a job that requires plenty of listening, problem-solving and staying calm when things don’t go to plan. She also raised three children, which is arguably pretty good preparation for a busy calendar.
For Jo, good decisions start with good relationships.
Now she’s helping navigate big conversations including Cambridge Connections and the Long-Term Plan, while supporting Mayor Mike and staying connected with communities across Waipā.
Away from Council, you’ll likely find Jo walking Cambridge with family dog Nimmy, cheering from the sidelines, browsing the Farmers’ Market or catching up over coffee.
Because despite the new role, the important things haven’t changed.
“I feel very lucky to call Waipā home.”
