Creative funding sees record allocation
6 June 2017
Just over $35,000 has been allocated to creative events and projects in Waipa, over double what was allocated in the September round.
The Creative Communities Scheme, administered by Waipa District Council and funded by Creative New Zealand, is supporting 18 applications from its April round.
The fund is aimed at promoting, supporting and increasing participation and diversity in community arts and cultural activities.
Assessment committee chair Colleen Wilson said it's great to see the number of applicants growing.
We're seeing new artists, groups and projects coming to the district and it's really exciting to see them applying to the fund, Wilson said.
These projects and events are adding to the suite of creative activities our communities can get involved with. It's offering a range of education and interest opportunities for anyone of any age or ability to have a go.
The funding process was recently combined to create a Waipa fund, bringing together the Te Awamutu and Cambridge assessors to share their knowledge of arts in their respective areas.
