Proposed Plan Change 25 (PC25), seeks to amend provisions in the rural zone of the Operative Waipā District Plan, relating to the protection of crops to manage:
- establishment and maintenance of shelterbelts
- construction and location of crop protection structures (artificial crop protection structures, artificial screens and crop support structures) associated with farming activities, mainly horticulture.
Council's exemption application, permitting the notification of PC25, was approved in full by the Hon. Chris Bishop, Minister responsible for Resource Management Reform on November 7, 2025.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21, 2026. The Hearing Direction #1 was issued by the Independent Hearing Commissioner on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
