Waikato Waters Limited delivers water and wastewater services on behalf of Waipā District Council.
It was a water services delivery model developed to meet the requirements of the Government's Local Water Done Well legislation.
Waipā is joining with other district councils to form the entity. They are: Matamata-Piako, Hauraki, Ōtorohanga, Waitomo, and South Waikato.
The new water organisation has been established and Waipā transferred its water and wastewater assets on July 1, 2026.

Water services delivery plan
Before the transfer, a water services delivery plan needed to be developed. This has been submitted to the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) as required by the Local Government Water Services (Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024 (PAA).
This plan explains how Council will deliver water services now and in the future, ensuring that these services are financially sustainable and meet legal requirements.
